You must be absolutely made up that the gripes are fairly easy to fix, well done that man.

Looks fantastic Ted ... a real credit to you.

What's your next Honda project going to be?

What's your next Honda project going to be?

I plan to do some small extra work on the 400 plus use the 500 for a few rides before crossing that bridge Ash.
The biggest hurdle is space as there is not really room for a third bike in my garage unless I part with the 400.
I like the lightness of the 400 even though it's too small for me plus it's my first born so as to speak.

Wendy is struggling to get in and out of her R129 SL500 that I bought her 21 years ago for our 25th wedding anniversary so she might decide to sell it next spring leaving a lot more space!

I am minded if I go for another Honda to buy something a lot smaller like some sort of 125/250 or similar, probably one that has been restored but needs a facelift.

I've sorted out all the little issues on the 500 from yesterday except the centre stand grommet change - I've done a temporary short term fix. The neutral light turned out to be the switch wire slightly pinched by the outer casing!

This is a neat 500 restoration in the USA.

This will probably be my closing post on this 500 Project - I went on a slightly longer run out today a whopping 11 miles.
The neutral light stopped working on the driveway, did quite a bit of accelerating and braking to put some life into the front brakes - certainly better than the first ride but a long way to go before they are fully bed in.

Only thing I noticed is I felt every imperfection in the road surface for the first half a mile - it seemed to ride smoother after a coupe of miles - probably as I was more relaxed on the bars.  I used SAE 15 mineral based light fork oil. All the front suspension clonks that were present before the rebuild have gone.

Keeping the engine rpm sensible - no sign of a flat spot at the moment, it accelerates smoothly and returns to an idle of around 1200 rpm when hot, the bonus - no carb bowl flooding - I have fitted twin in line fuel filters that route under the carb as suggested by a member.

A few possible things with neutral light in most common order
1 bulb blown
2 either wire disconnected in headlamp
3 wire at switch inside cover fell off
4 screw holding switch rotor fell out
5 pip on back of rotor broke off(i do have a few of these but not the stator)

Congratulations on the restoration Ted. It’s looks really good - especially the exhaust. Maybe a bit more comfy for distance than the 400…..?👏👏👏👍

The ergonomics for someone over 6ft tall speak for themselves - just a comfortable ride with no hip issues for me to date.👍

Even on a short run I fidget along the seat of my 400 trying to improve the hip angles.☹️

Thanks for all the positive comments plus all the help & advice during the build. I'll lock this topic  off.
