Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately it has the wrong fitting. Thanks also to others who have helped.  I'm going to visit my local old fashioned workshop who seems to have a bottomless pit of odds and sods, and see if he has a piece of 2mm or 3mm copper from which I can cut out and drill a replacement.
