400 carb slider adjustment question need to check ?

On reflection I think the suggestions about where the spring sits accounts for why I only have one dowel - that's logical - it explains the groove as well thanks Philip, Multiman & Mr Spock . My Bad.
As a poor excuse I dismantled, numbered & individually boxed the parts about 5 months ago just started assembly last week. Currently using the US cleaner for each carb as I put them together.Duh

So is the spring dowel missing or not Ted? If you thought there were 3 of them I can see why you'd think 2 have gone missing but are you still missing the original between 2 and 3. TBH it looks to be the same part as the 500/550 carbs.

I have just the one - it's the center spring dowel - so all is well.

That’s the chap,Ted. Short solid barrel, waisted in the middle for the spring👍 The item below ‘17’ on the CMNSL fiche as identified by Roo.
