To the point it wont pull away Bryan?  Ignition is a Dyna S which ive set up statically with a test light following several YouTube videos, I'm sure its right having watched several different videos but happy to be wrong.

Personally would try it with original points, are you using the Honda coils or Dyna?

I'm using Honda original coils that I've done Ash's fix on with new leads, it came with the Dyna so I don't have the original points.

I have to admit I'm reluctant to remove it.  I need to read a comprehensive guide to carb tuning, I don't know whether in coming or going, rich or lean!  On one hand everything points to rich with sooty plugs and stinking of fuel then I lean it out to 2 ¼ turns out and I've got kangarooing at lower revs and bogging down but suddenly racing away once I hit 3k.  I'm not giving it fistfuls but feeding in the throttle.  I feel I'm close at times but my lack of carb knowledge leaves me confused.

Hmmm, recent Dyna failures. Dyna were a highly regarded name for ignition systems and coils. I wonder if this is maybe linked to manufacturing changes. Are Dyna still manufacturing in the USA or have they gone like all the rest and moved manufacturing to China?

Could any of my rich running be related to me running a modified air box? Be ause mine had most of the recirculating parts missing I've plugged the airbox hoses and am running a 550k or maybe a 500 air filter without the hole in the bottom for the air breather.  The lid is from an F model as it should be but is missing the snorkel so I've just glued a stainless mesh over it.   I'd have thought this would all be less restrictive so if anything would tend towards lean?

What sort of air cleaner cover do you have and what size jets?

Mines was bogging down and hesitating at lower revs, tried all the usual stuff such as air filter, pilot jets and mains.

Bloke at the moto piston rally in Spain with a high mileage F1 told me the needles and needle jets would need changing, he was correct it ran beautifully after that.

Getting new genuine needles and emulsion tubes, I'm not sure that's likely in the UK.

I got a genuine set sent from Australia, then later a spare set from a Honda dealer in Sweden.
(But since then the've become available in the UK again)

I just looked up the part number on CMSNL and then google searched worldwide.

But of course 550F1 stuff maybe much more scarce.

Anyhow good luck.
