DomP:
What is an acceptable max temperature for the engine block? My manifolds are a little varying in temp using a temperature gun, 1, 2 and 4 seem to be low 70s where as no 3 runs a good 10°C hotter with the block measuring high 90s bar cylinder 3 again which i just got 120°C with my gun.  Seems a bit improbable to have such a gradient so close together.

Incidentally, doing a plug chop only no3 was close to the pale brown colour on the white insulator section.

*following this i decided to double check my dynamic timing which is looking spot but there is a but, and I think it may be interesting.  On 1 and 4 I cant get the timing light to flash consistently, thus has got me questioning the 1-4 coil or its leads.  Another observation is that when raising the revs from idle it gets to 2000/2200 they fly past 3k to 4 with literally no control, I cant hold 3k for love nor money.  Is this the switch from pilot to main jet causing problems?

DomP:
Still d**king around with my carbs!  Can anyone help with this little conundrum, at idle I get a different reading across the four than at 3k for example, where one carb is lagging behind at idle, it is then ahead at say 3k?  See pics

McCabe-Thiele (Ted):
I'm no expert my thoughts are, at idle you are running on different fuel metering jets than when you are running at 3k with no real world load on the engine.

DomP:
That was my thinking Ted, if I then I each air screw individually that carb struggles so suggests the passages are clear or working, just that some carbs react more to throttle making syncing impossible

Seabeowner:
The manual only specifies measurement at low revs. Think it's a big ask to get it over a wide rev range.
