Plugs probably failed because of the time you spent running incorrect mix whilst trying to get it right.
Sparking to frame has to be a bad earth connection, did you remove paint from brackets and casings?
Thanks Bryan,

I did remove paint from brackets and casings, I gave them another rub down when I was checking them earlier but they  did look ok. I guess it must have been that as it’s not sparking there now?

I just wanted to pass on my thanks for all the help with this bike. It’s been a great learning experience and I’ve really enjoyed working on it and learning a bit. Once the earth issue was sorted it started up and ran well. I’ve now sold the bike and have replaced it with a 1970 CB350, so I will no doubt be peppering the forum with questions about that next!

Here she is on her way out

And her successor

Sticking with the twins I see! That’s quite a tidy looking 350. Good luck with next project.

Nice looking K series ... Dressed as a K1 (i.e. tank and seat) but K3 onwards clocks and no 'TYPE 1' points cover. Interested in the frame & engine numbers.

See pics for correct K1

Ok, that’s good to know. I will check the numbers and post them. Would be good to know what is correct and what isn’t. I’m planning on keeping this one so it would be good to get it correct.

Frame and engine numbers, I’m really interested to know what’s correct with this bike and what isn’t but I guess that will need to be a whole new thread. It was advertised as a 1970 K2, which with my limited knowledge seems correct with the serial numbers?

Engine number is USA K2. Tank is 1969 K1 (K2 tank did not have the rubber kneepads). Seat was same pattern on K1 and K2 so correct for a K2. Chainguard is correct for K2 (it's painted black and K1 had chromed chainguard). Headlamp shell and side panels would be same colour as tank on a K2. maybe PO just like the K1 style and swapped parts. (see pic for correct K2 style paintwork) .

Clocks are metal body K3 onwards. K2 had plastic bodied clocks.
Wheels are correct for K2 (K1 had blind drillings on hubs in-between each spoke hole). Front guard is USA K0/K1 type ... see pic for correct type for K2  but this example has non-standard silencers ... yours look correct.
