Julie, I saw the photo in this post that I thought was supplied by DS you can see the TEC marking I just assume that it would come with TEC points so their points would be TEC, lets not go down the OvT route please.
Bryan does not say where he sourced his part or the brand he was sent.
Presumably commando1954 could contact DS and ask if they are TEC?
If they are TEC sounds as though the quality of the product today is not the same as they were 50 years - no surprise there I guess.

Ted, i did say i bought it from ds as it was about £94 whilst local dealer quoted £148.
Its put away now but i think it was tec and had the 154 end number

My Bad you did say DS looking at the other post its a Tec back plate plus you can make out the same make on the points base.
Is it the case Bryan that modern Tec points are not of the same quality as original ones then?
Back in the day when Vauxhall fitted points it was the other way round - early AC Delco points had an issue for a while with wear on the heel of the points - they were improved using a different grade of material that was more wear resistant.

AFAIK Ted the modern day points by TEC are as good as they always were.
It's the aftermarket points which are the problem, more notably the Daichi points. Compare a pic of TEC and Daichi and you can spot the differences, it's stuff like the way the points contact plates are made, the way the pivot bushing is done etc. Daichi seem to have cut corners to make them to a price, TEC made them to the original spec as stated by Honda and are far superior..
