Only just re-read one of your posts Johnny, I have an ultrasonic bath if you want to go down that road first.  That might stop you being able to have it welded later though if it fails.
Shout if you need it.

Glued and left for a few days to dry then made a steel band to glue round the flange. Now leaving to dry for a few days again.

Just the normal Arldite Ted, not the rapid stuff, as recommended.
