Newby intro
« on: June 04, 2024, 03:39:10 PM »
Hi all
I am a new member so am feeling my way round at the moment so please accept my apologies for any errors.I live in Rochester kent.
I have just recently retired ,and as you guest it ,needed to get a hobby again.
Well that's taken the shape of a 1974 Honda 550 k0 in sun flake orange with 21000 miles pn the clock.most of the bike was present.i got it to run but badly due to the carbs I later found out(full of kack).thus knowing the engine was OK.i stripped the bike down and have had bits recromed the frame and bits powder coated .Now starts the process of putting it back to original.
Just another bike saved for myself and other people to enjoy in the future.no doubt I will have sum questions soon so look forward to talking further on the forum
Long live jap bikes god bless them.

Welcome Mark,

I bought a '76 CB550K US import a couple of months ago, carbs also full of cack, also stripped the bike down, frame etc due to be picked up from the powder coaters this week. The folks on the forum have been super helpful and patient. As my previous experience is limited to a rebuild of a Suzuki GP100 engine, top end rebuild of a Morris Minor and general rebuild of a 1952 Triumph Thunderbird I need a lot of help!
