Rear wheel spindle surface rust on the 400.

McCabe-Thiele (Ted):
It's not a big deal but last winter there was a light dusting of surface corrosion on the rear wheel spindle that I did not have zinc plated or whatever it should have had when I did the rebuild in 2020-21.

I think I just sprayed it with ACF 50 that has reduced it but not completely stopped surface corossion. I guess I should have re-treated the shaft ends every 6 months.

It would be a bodge to put a lick of zinc paint over the ends so is there an easy/better solution that I'm missing?
My can of ACF 50 went AWOL.

Is XCP any better?

Ted,
If you clean off the oil and grease residues, then apply Rub N Buff (silver leaf) with a toothbrush it will protect it and with a light hand buff will look almost original.

Now I haven’t got into Rub n buff yet but I am now going to order some. Is there different flavours?😁

The Passion Fruit is popular especially if you breath in the dust when buffing. ;D ;D ;D
