My Brother Paul is going to help me with the final stage of engine removal this Sunday. When the engine is out bike will be turned round on the ramp. Much easier to push a bike backwards onto the ramp without the weight of the engine. Front brakes left in place to aid the process.
In readiness I have the engine supported on the scissor stand platform having removed all the engine mounting bolts using 4 old Phillips screw drivers as temporary bolts.
Decided yesterday to clean the quite large plastic part that is the air box that extends quite a way into the rear of the frame.
Not sure why but a PO had painted part of the black plastic casing on one side in black Hammerite. Took me almost an hour of painting the part with Hammerite brush cleaner to remove the thick layer of paint using a coarse cloth to avoid scratching the plastic.
