The bolt that holds the advance unit on.

A simple question..... which way does the bolt that holds the timing advance unit on to the front camshaft, Undo.
Looks to be the normal way - spanner anti-clockwise.

The Clymer manual does not seem to say.  I would rather get it right.

DomP:
Correct!

McCabe-Thiele (Ted):
I think most workshop manuals do not mention if a bolt is a normal right hand thread (RHT) so anti-clockwise is to undo the RHT bolt as DomP has said.

I think it's fair to say that only where a thread is a left hand thread (LHT) does a manual mention it as to undo a LHT needs to be turned clockwise.

Only left hand thread that I can think of that I have encountered is the rear bearing retaining ring on a 500, that's mentioned both on here & in the manuals.

It's on pretty tight which made me think if I was undoing the right way.  I did check the p/n and found a pic which showed which way the thread went.
I remember a Kawasaki rotor bolt that had to be undone the opposite way and the manual did say this.

Old age can make you unsure.... best to ask.

Thanks
Nairb
