Hi everyone, can somebody explain the reason for the rubber connector  that joins the two silencers on my 1974 550, thanks for any advice you can give me.

Yes, when these 'balance tubes' are more towards the end, there's a slight increase in high rpm's, the more towards the head, you gain somewhat in the lower range. That's the idea. Personally I don't think ours make much difference. After all... Honda dropped them when they launched the K3's.

Well i was on my dumfone when i wrote it, the pc is still running 98 and the laptop 7!

thanks for all the advice, was wondering if the connectors can be removed without causing any problems as it is a real bore trying to line the connectors up so would it be possible to seal the openings on the exhausts or will it cause the bike to run badly cheers.

As Bryan says leave them fitted or you will be harassed by the classic bike police every time you take it out 😄😄.  Well the lack of them will definitely be pointed out to you. 

I haven’t got a 5mm diameter red dot 🔴 painted on the front brake caliper of my CBX and I am always being told about  the error of my ways.  Now I have become stubborn and won’t put it on 😂
