Heated foot mats etc?

I was chatting to a mate today who is an avid Arsenal supporter.
He was telling me that the players have heated foot mats when they are seated and ready to go out to play to keep their legs  muscles warm.

As my feet were turning into ice blocks as I was doing some polishing in the garage I wondered if anyone here has tried anything similar, particularly those who live in the frozen north?

Not here Ted, have heard of people using matting just in front of bench just to keep feet off the concrete. Suppose it’s a form of insulation.

Long term skier, had this sort of heater for years to dry and warm boots overnight. Very effective too.

Only low rated heat and can always be safely left on, good for drying out shoes when wet from UK weather as well.

I laid the major part of my garage floor with interlocking foam tiles from Machine Mart. They are quite thick and provide good insulation from the cold concrete floor. Clean and comfortable if you kneel or lay on them when working. Good for the bikes too, keeps tyres off cold concrete.
They're available from lots of places and not very expensive.  Much better than the old pieces of carpet that I used to use.

I also use those interlocking tiles on my garage floor. Then I have a large rug over the top. Nice and padded, very comfortable to stand and kneel on, and has the added benefit of reducing damp through to the carpet. The carpet stops side and centre stands from digging into the tiles and makes it easy to roll heavy stuff around (compressor/bike lift). My dog prefers it too!

Impossible to keep clean though.

When I insulated the garage I used these tiles on the floor. They are interlocking and are made of hard plastic. Available in many colours although I don't remember them being £35 EACH😱 when I bought them, I must have got them in a sale because I would never have paid that amount considering it's a double garage! There's also a choice of textured durr barr effect or smooth. I went for the smooth finish to make it easier to sweep up.
Whilst they are not insulated I placed them over 18mm marine ply and below that was 50mm kingspan insulation laid between 50mm x 50mm battens @200mm ctrs.

The problem I found with the gym type mats was the bike stands would dig in.
These tiles have been down about 10 years now with no issues at all.

I used these from ‘Big Dug’. I have a wooden shed as workshop with a suspended wood floor. I put tyvek breathable membrane on the floor, tiles on that and ply on the top of the tiles.
