Big storm

Just checking that everyone survived the storm without any serious damage. It was a very rough day yesterday with nearly 100mph winds here. The roof ripped off a large block of flats in Dundee and lots of trees down, chimney pots flying! Our garden tool shed moved off it's blocks but no damage for us luckily. No power cuts either, but many people in Scotland and N Ireland still without power. 😟

I'm pleased to hear you're OK Gareth. Not too bad in Lincs, very windy for a few hours but luckily no rain with it at that time. The rain arrived about 12 hours previously and blimey, it did lash it down for a few hours. At least the cars got a wash 😁😁😁

Everything still ok here in the Northern Isles - nowhere near as bad as Ireland and Western Scotland.  Hope Hubert is ok too. Winds easing back but just had a heavy shower of sleety stuff.  Julie, your comment about the cars reminds me of a farmer friend of ours here in Orkney - he has never washed any of his cars in the 20 years we've known him - he does sometimes go outside in bad weather and turn them round to get the other side clean!  Needless to say, if he gives you a lift, you wipe your feet when you get out!

My Freelander is like that Ian. She gets washed once a year, ready for her MOT and she's used as a mobile tip, skip and dog carrier. With all the mud around here laid down by the farmers harvesting crops all winter, washing cars is pointless. When I drive down to stay in Kent / Sussex, which I do about every 6 weeks, Graham insists on scrapping the mud from the lights and number plates and waves me on my way very pleased he never comes with me😂😂😂😂. His car is immaculate 🙄🙄🙄🙄.

It was really rough here in Biggar. A few trees down on the surrounding roads. We live behind a nursery with a large greenhouse which launched several large Perspex panels and other bits at the house. Worrying at the time but fortunately no damage.

Not too bad here, winds touching eighty gusting but our old house was built tucked down in the hollow sheltered from southerly and southwesterly gales so most of it went over the top of us.... oddly inland in Strathclyde there was much more damage, we were just twenty miles north of the red zone....reading about it today we were fortunate

The wind and noise was pretty scary here on the Wirral but it was no problem, no damage but lots of loose fence panels rattling and flapping in the wind at our house and a friends but I managed to rescue them before they flew away.

Just some gusty wind at ours, I keep on expecting our CostCo Gazebo to end up next door as it's a light  alloy framed unit with Polycarbonate roof panels.

Due to level issues the main legs are bolted to home made  cast concrete feet, I used a big square plastic plant pot as a mould. Legs are rag bolted into the concrete feet. Wendy said it was a bit chunky in design.

London calling: The worst we got was wind and rain so I was grounded. I had to do a search for my bikes cover,  Elen was left naked and needing a wash lol! Most undignified!
