Is that Hay Bluff, John? Or Lord Hereford's Knob as shown on maps?

I used to hang-glide off there in the 70s and 80s. Tough climb up with the dangle glider on your shoulder!
Do you remember Gerry Breen??

Small world, as my father worked with him in making some of his earlier aircraft, I remember the welding (my dad welding) of aluminium tubes with oxy acetylene in parts of the construction.  Also have a "first day cover" I think its called, for postal delivery by hang glider by Gerry somewhere.

Last heard of him some time ago running hang glider flights in Algarve area of Portugal quite a few years back.

That's a good read. Reminded me of some names from the past.
Gerry Breen flew his early powered hang-glider in the Raf St Athan Air display one year. The smallest and slowest aircraft in the show!

Interesting read. I was with Colin Rider when he broke the British hang gliding altitude record in 1987 (possibly 1988). He rode wave lift up to around 13,500ft above Wether Fell near Haws, Yorkshire. I bottled it at around 6,600 feet and landed back at launch. The hardest thing was getting down as the lift was really strong and I had to side slip what seemed to be forever. I bet that record still stands today.

I know we're well off topic here, sorry folks. 😁

Do you know Noel Whittall? I knew him through the BHGA committee and still have the signed copy of his book that he gave me.

Yes, both Noel and his son, Robbie. Robbie lives in New Zealand and runs a paragliding manufacturing company. I believe Rob was both Hang gliding and paragliding world champ and has also raced motorcycles on the IOM in the Manx GP. Obviously I knew Noel some 40 years ago and not that well. I recall that Noel was one of the forerunners in the Yorkshire hang glider community.

I was taught by a guy called Keith Cockcroft (RIP) on Baildon Moor.

Loving the photos on here and interesting about you guys hang gliding experience. I thought about it at one point but was told it will be a lot of hanging around!🤣
Love the patina on that Old Ford truck. Reminds me of the antics of Derek in the Vice Grip Garage.

Well, unsurprisingly the wee CB two fifty never used a drop of engine oil but I must confess to a drop or two of single malt plus two litres of 2 stroke oil.

Photo taken at Glencoe village about two weeks ago.

Only two very wet days when travelling, but that was nothing compared to the task of coming to terms with the famous Scottish midges.

The dreaded midges! The East side of Scotland isn't so bad. 🦟

Some interesting photos there Skoti, never knew John Deere built a motor cycle, presumably a promotional special?

Interesting chaincase on that 500, presumably a one off.

Ted, I too was wondering about that chain guard, I seem to remember seeing them advertised in Bike magazine during the late seventies and early eighties.
But the one fitted to that 500 four is the first one I've seen in the flesh.
