Not sure how adding dyed water to the petrol in the Breeze Blocked laboratory is a reliable scientific basis to judge Shell E5 Ethanol content or how cleanly it burns. The prices quoted for Shell SUL seem off the scale, in Derby it's 164.9, BP SUL is 150.7 locally, the price difference between E10 & E5 is 29p.
I don't particularly like the disc brake though on it, just doesn't suit it although I can understand why it is fitted, he wants to stop! I've seen a couple of Tritons that have used the Honda CBX550 inboard disc brakes fitted to spiked rims and suitably machined, they both looked fantastic, like a drum but actually stops. I looked into doing the same but anyone with a CBX550 front brake knows exactly what they are worth and used for these days.
It's always difficult to build a Triton with a unit engine. There's a lot of 'open space' to deal with around it hence why the purists go for a pre unit motor, a bit more spaced out. Dave Degans got the right combination with the unit motor in the Dresda. The front engine plates pushed the motor back a little to fill the gaps. The shape of the oil tank is also critical, again to fill the gaps. Same with the fuel tank, I deliberately used a short circuit tank on mine that sits on top of the frame rails with little overhang at the sides. Fitting a big Manx style tank accentuates the unit engine making it look a bit lost in a wideline frame.But....as Andy rightfully states, it's how the builder wanted to build it and building a good looking and functional Triton isn't easy so hats off to anyone who attempts to build one👍
