Please help me identify my CB550
« on: January 28, 2026, 04:15:38 PM »
I've just purchased a CB550 but don't know what model it is, so I need some help before I go off and buy the wrong parts.

It was first registered in the UK in 1978.

The engine number is CB55OE 1154708
The Frame number is CB550F 2114920

It's got an aftermarket Motad 4-1 exhaust.

And that's as far as I have got.

Thanks for your help, Neil.

Pictures of the bike and the top of the Carb, if helpful.

That looks like a CB550 F1 or F2.
Edit....more like an F2 especially registered in 1978.

Cb550F1, F2 didn't get the fork bellows although they could have been fitted after.

If it's an F1 the clock faces will be green but blue if it's an F2

Quick update, discovered the Frame Vin is CB550F 2114920, which would make it a CB550 F3. (I'll update OP).

Do the tank and seat look right for this model?

Edit, now looks like a F2 as there was no F3.

Seat has been recovered so can't identify that. The grab rail is missing BTW. If it is an F3 it must be an import as that model never made it to the UK. Never seen one either. Tanks right, colour is not. There was a burgundy one but it had a gold flash on it as well which yours doesn't have.

(sigh) A CB550F3 neger existed. Show me one Honda document that mentions a CB550F3. It's US craziness from a US book. They just can't believe a model runs for more than one year. In Europe succesful models ran for many consecutive As always the answer is in the appropiate parts list. They are all at Honda4Fun.com. Page 4 of the CB550F2 parts list identifies yours: https://www.honda4fun.com/dwnload/Part-List/CB550/CB550-F2-Parts-List.pdf
So: a CB550F2-E
