Thread pitch guage recommendations
« on: February 16, 2025, 01:05:08 PM »
Just picking up on Taysidedragon's post on 400/4 build tools.

What would you recommend as a good thread pitch guage buy?
One day I'll have the time to restore it, not just talk and dream....

I've used this type over the years

Fairly low expense and last for years.

I have a set of those Nigel. Had them for years and served me well.
They are also useful as a hair comb and being of various pitch sizes they adjust to how much hair one has left on their head as the years pass, I use 1.50mm corse pitch these days  :)

Yep, same here, past metric fine and more like a good cutting compound for a decent polishing  :)

Like the idea of this format???

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/196727584444?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=tUg-uPkETs6&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=Wwl4JSf7QJi&var=496416808341&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

That looks quite bulky, get the compact foldout type. If there's a Machine Mart branch near you pick one up from there.

Yep but my dodgy eyesight and fumbly fingers may have a say.😳😜

Are they the right thread pitch for the larger sizes Bryan?

Honda CB500 K1 (second money pit)

They are the standard metric Ted so knowing Honda maybe not, and not good enough for cutting new threads on fress bar or in steel holes but fine for truing damaged threads, was just showing you have an alternative for thread gauges

Found one Tim, you want it?

It has 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 0.75, 0.8, 0.9, 1.00, 1.25, 1.5, 1.75 and for some reason 27.

Small, same size as my Snap On ones. Like the one Nigel linked to except just metric pitches.

I don't have your address so you'd need to PM me it if you want it.
