Electrical lighting issue
« on: March 15, 2025, 06:26:06 PM »
Im hoping that there are some brighter sparks than me on here (pun intended)!
Bike is a CB750 K6 UK model.
I've just fitted a new RH handlebar switch assembly. (All 7 wires fitted correctly I think!) With the key at the first position (ignition) all the warning lights are active.  The headlight switch (H position) activates main headlight with high and low beam working but no tail light and no pilot/parking light. Brake light works. All LH switch funtions work.
In 'P' position on the RH bar switch I get no pilot light. When I move the key to the final position I get the pilot light and the tail light.

Any thoughts on what I have missed? Any advice appeciated!

A brown and white or brown wire is not connected to the correct loom wire OR if yours has 3 fuses the tail light fuse or connectors are fubar

In 3rd position on the key, you should get tail light, pilot light and when you go to H, those 2 should still be lit up with the low and high beam. You've got a wire not connected somewhere by the sounds of it.

Could be just a poor connection rather than a disconnect. As we all know remote diagnosis of electrical issues is not easy.
I think it was Bryan & Mickwinf who spotted my issue on my 500. Yours is a 750 but colours will probably be the same on older Hondas..

I had parking light issues when I was fitting new bar switches, Pages 38 & 39 of this link goes into detail.https://www.sohc.co.uk/index.php/topic,28541.570.html
