Fork length ?
« on: June 08, 2025, 03:46:29 PM »
Could any kind CB550 owner please tell me the length of the assembled forks, ( fully extended ) please ?
I measure from the centre of the front axle to the top face of the tube.
Q. Are all the 550 forks the same length  ?
Or do they vary between the F and K models etc ?

Measured my F1 and they are 72cm.
I know that the the F1 forks have different stanchions from the K I used to have, but the difference could well have been in the damping arrangement.

Many thanks for that !
In desperation I actually tried measuring a photograph of a pair of CB550 forks with a tape measure across the screen of my phone.
Then basing my calculations on the sliders being 352mm long I got an overall length of between 716mm to 727mm based on two different photos.
When you get the chance,  could you possibly manage to check your fork slider length.
The sliders on my CB750F1 measure 352mm from the axle centre line to the top face hidden under the dust seal.
I'm hoping that the 550 sliders are the same length.

I have a sneaky feeling the CB550F2 (which also shares the same part number as the K3) has longer sliders than the F1.

I have some F2 lying around, I'll measure them tomorrow. If I get a chance to go in the loft I'll measure the stanchions as well.
