Changing to US spec bars.
« on: June 11, 2025, 06:21:31 PM »
I've had a good day today out in the sunshine all day.
I'm fitting K1 type US spec bars to my F1.
I'm not at all keen on the low narrow UK type.
These are 32" wide with a 4.5" rise
They've got the correct cut outs for the internal wiring, but am I going to have to extend all the switch wiring to suit ? [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

Was it originally an American import that had UK bars fitted, if so you should be okay. If it's a UK bike you will probably need to extend the electrics, and the throttle cables, and the clutch cable, and the brake hose.

No, unfortunately it's a UK market bike, first registered in 1976.
While some people are trying to disguise their grey import bikes as UK market,  I'm doing the opposite.
I expect to have to source longer cables (the originals are seized anyway).
Now it looks like buying some solder and heat shrink tubing.

It would seem that the F0 and F1 had the wires inside the bars.
F2 and F3 had the wires outside.

I’m disguising my US (made in Japan) CB550 F2 as a US specification model with flat bars and without the UK hidden frame corrosion 😉😁
