I actually didn't know until recently that an individual catches pneumonia from an airborne virus, I always thought an individual developed pneumonia as a result of a chest infection.
Everyday really is a school day.
Great news that Ken is on the mend. Now he's conscious he'll get stronger by the day and once he gets to grips with using his phone again you won't be safe from his insults Roo🙂.

There are a bundle of reasons you can catch it. My bout a couple of years back stemmed from a chest infection.    An experience to be missed!

Partly in jest, but you never know what gets into you and from where. We were in discussion some time back about disinfecting this vehicle after its storage time as general rats toilet. Unlikely, but just a possibility of it.

From experience in looking after safety in a chemical use environment with  arious ingestion hazard, mitigation of such, risk management of potentially serious nature etc, its clear there's easy source available for some things you'd really want to avoid.

Don't let the fcuking pneumonia get ya Ken  this is no time to clock off early.

Next generation sequencing, a novel molecular diagnostic tool, provided a key hint to uncover the crucial pathogen, Leptospira interrogans, further supported by the possible occupational exposure history. Subsequent conventional penicillin and mechanical respiratory support were administrated to cure the patient successfully without any sequela.

CONCLUSION
Clinicians must pay attention to possible exposure history and keep uncommon Leptospira in mind when managing pneumonia with unknown causes.

Hi all,

Well it’s been a fractious week and firstly can I apologise for lack of comms. Ken’s Lad, Craig called me on Tuesday to inform me he’d taken a dive and was going down hill fast as a result of a secondary infection on both lungs and had been back on the ventilator with things not looking good.
For the sanity of the family and for me not wanting to post a fretful piece full of bad news I hung back and I know some of you have messaged me asking for news but I’ve had to just keep a lid on it.
 I’ve been in contact all week on a daily basis  with Craig and although it seemed a lost cause and a possibility of having to call the vicar, the stubborn bugger has rallied and responding to the new drugs and gone from needing the ventilator 24/7 to now only requiring it about 15% of the time, even managing a 24hr spell breathing on his own.

Fantastic news as I’m sure you’ll agree and a sigh of relief for the family. He’s got a monster long way to go but he’s fully with it although still can’t talk but is mouthing his words over so communication is coming on.
His lad took him his eye pad in today d he could watch the GP which will have cheered him up no end I should imagine. When they called into the ICU today to see him,  he was with the physio and apparently they had him standing up and supporting his own weight albeit with a frame but that’s epic progress when he was on deaths door Tuesday!

There’s life and chuntering in the old sod yet so keep up the good vibes sent his way on the ether folk, it seems to be working.

I’ll update after the weekend when I’ve had a chance to chat to Loz n Craig on Sunday with more news.

Thank you for the latest update on Kens condition although it's not all good news this update. At least he has responded to the new drugs & he is now improving and hopefully he will continue to improve on his long road to recovery.

Thanks Roo for updating, that is given us a bit of a lift after hearing previous news. I am astounded at the speed in which pneumonia can infect someone. I have an elderly friend here in Orkney that went to bed feeling fine and woke early in the morning struggling to breath! I always thought of pneumonia as a progressive condition. It is scary! Could be any one of us! 😳😳  There is one or two people on this forum at the moment “going through the mill” as it were, I do wish everybody well and do hope there is some good news around the corner. Honestly, we think we have problems!!

Thanks for the update Roo. Hopefully he's now properly on the mend. Good to hear he's watching the GP on the iPad. Don't show him last weekend's BSB when Andrew Irwin threw his Honda up the track and against the barrier to total it, not sure if Ken could cope with Honda carnage!
As well as Ken our thoughts are with his family, if it's been tough for Ken it would also be really tough on his family.
