Bryanj:
Plus DSS buys from CMS anyway

archmill:
Bought a lot of parts from CMSNL and they charged me VAT at 20% even though their site says "no VAT on non EU countries".
I phoned them to say UK is not an EU country and was informed that VAT for UK was still payable as that was part of the #@%$ deal. But no import duty.
Tory twats.

SeanFD:
And in case it applies, they will only post to the country and address on your bank card.

While travelling I tried to get them to post parts to me and no go!

That's what happens when you have gormless politians and greedy bankers running the country 😡

Seabeowner:
It's done to make a seamless import for goods under £135 otherwise VAT would be payable when it gets here. Over that amount VAT is paid on arrival in UK. Presume there is a reciprocal arrangement for goods going the other way, but don't know.
This is what AI makes of it:
Items that are worth under £135 that are purchased from overseas sellers do not incur import VAT, but the overseas seller must still be VAT-registered in the UK, and must still pay the VAT to HMRC.
