Interesting post from Crich Tramway
« on: July 24, 2025, 09:40:14 AM »
This popped up on my PC today from Crich Tramway.
Nice to see how 'Enthusiasts' are held in the highest esteem by other Enthusiasts - whether they ride bikes or trams.

QUOTE: A Fitting Farewell for Geoffrey Claydon 🚋
This morning, Crich Tramway Village came together to honour the remarkable life and legacy of Geoffrey Claydon CB LLB M.Inst TA CMILT with a very special final journey.
In a deeply moving tribute, Geoffrey was carried for his ‘last ride’ through the museum from Town End, through Wakebridge then up to Glory Mine on Blackpool 166 followed by Glasgow 22 and Chesterfield 7. Glasgow 812 stood quietly at Town End, while Geoffrey’s favourite trams lined the workshop stretch of the line – a subtle but powerful reflection of a lifetime spent in passionate service to the Tramway Museum Society and the wider heritage railway movement.
Today’s procession was a rare and deeply personal honour, made possible because of Geoffrey’s immeasurable contributions to our museum, and to the very foundations of heritage transport in the UK.
His impact can be seen in every tram that runs at Crich and across the country. His wisdom shaped the laws that protect and empower our sector. And his presence here, over decades of leadership, will never be forgotten.
Thank you, Geoffrey. 💛
