Maybe the redline should be 12k RPM!

OK, not really but I missed a full throttle 2-3 shift today and the tach needle (and engine RPM) went flying to the OTHER side of the tach's red zone!

Engine acted as if nothing had happened and continued to run perfectly, including several more redline (non-missed) shifts!  I post this NOT to encourage spinning to 12,000 RPM, but as a comment that these were very well made little engines!  :)

I seem to remember the early 500 owners handbook saying that you should not continuously operate at revs over the top of the red band
