GLS is a type of bulb. Like the old pear-shaped ones.

That unit on Amazon screws into an E27 light fitting in place of a single bulb.

E27 is a standard UK Edison screw 27mm.

This is the light setup in my garage with 4 LED battens. With 2 down each side I have a good spread of light when working on the bikes and there is a light directly over the workbench and over the lathe, so I'm not working in my own shadow.  That's 80w total.

Please excuse the disorganised mess, I'm  in the middle of reorganising my junk.😫

Thanks for all your replies! I've ended up buying some 2ft battens from Screwfix. I have a double garage, and thought I would need 6 3ft ones, but couldn't find any/many that length so I started with a pair of 2 foot ones to see how bright they were...and also kept my original 3ft led tube. Certainly makes a difference - enough light for pretty much all of the garage, but the two new ones are mounted on one side, so I either move them to the middle or get a couple more to balance it out.

Related, but specifically if anyone is running Makita 18v batteries etc

Light unit "DML801" a Makita hand held Led, with fold/twist etc, makes an excellent portable light source for general use.

I'd say, exceptionally bright, with very even and broad spread output. Tough, stands easily (really inconvenient when you can't site a torch easily) with enough direction adjustment to really help you out in awkward situations. 

Running Makita tools here, it obviously fits in with our existing, but very useful nonetheless.
