speedo mileage reset
mickwinf:
I have a good speedo on my 500 four which is the third one as the first 2 were faulty. as it is in very good condition i dont want to strip and reset the mileometer to zero (has had a complete rebuild and original miles unknown) Is there a way of wizzing the miles on using an electric drill and if so how many hours/days/weeks would it take?
Bryanj:
Probably doable but it would take a long time

I did this with the replacement Speedo on my Daytona 900.
I used an electric desk fan. Removed all the gubbins and just left the spindle coming out of the motor. Then connected that to the wheel end of the Speedo cable with a heat shrink rubber sleeve.
Fan motor is slow enough to cause no damage.
It took several weeks to get to 20k miles.

IIRC the speedo read about 40mph when running on the fan.
So 20k miles is 500 hours (20 days)
