Just had my registration returned,

Said I hadn't established the age sufficiently

I included specific details, explaining it was a  stop gap model, only made in 1972,

But not enough,

I am sourcing a dating certificate from the Aircooled RD  forum

Will they accept the manufacturers date plate Bryan. Gonna get round to doing the VT1100c soon.  It’s a 1985 so just over the 40 year mark.

Not when i tried it Ken but if it has a V5c they should take the date from that but its a wierd formula something like from the April AFTER its 40 before January 1st, not 100% sure on specifics

Well it qualifies under INF34 as it's a motorcycle. I'll have to look on the import form to see if the first registered date is shown.

Quick update

After much headscratching,lots of splinters,

I was in the area of despairation

I decided to clean the comutator,

It looked good, no visible wear,
Using a narrow blade screw driver I cleaned the gaps,

Bit like under your nails,

Yes debris came out, good wash with cleaner,

Reassembled,
Tried it,starter worked better, charge light went out!

Successful

But, it didn't look like it needed doing

Picture of before doing

On the bigger stuff at sea Ted we used a ground hacksaw blade to undercut the segments, my aged memory tells me a motor is different from a generator on undercutting but cant remember how and it dont help on a dynostart that does both!
