How many "wraps" on a wiring loom?
« on: April 02, 2026, 06:36:33 PM »
I've been working on cleaning up and repairing my wiring loom. Over the years, additional tape has been wrapped around it in various places - all sticky and a bloody mess now.

I stripped the loom back to the wires in a lot a places and have some proper loom tape.

How many wraps of the tape do I do?

Perfect, thank you. Seems the previous owners went mad with sticky insulating tape and areas had thick duck tape. all removed, cleaned and re-wrapped!

Where the protective sleeve at headstock joins will need extra to hold it on and of course where "spurs" come off the main loom

I guess the amount of overlap on the wrap is where the skill lies.
