Resto mileage views ?

What are the views on milage after resto - just wondering

I was not aiming to build a new bike, just make an old bike serviceable usable and look like it should form the original registration period. I think I have done this and enjoyed the process - now its tinker and ride a bit while i am able.

Not much of my bike has done any miles at all, yes some parts are from other bikes with unknown milage like forks ,but majority are direct replacements.

The clocks are looking used/ tired should we say, but this like a bit of pitting and wear on chrome gearchange /rear mudguard etc go with the age of the bike.

My bike is reding 37k on clock and the original bits i would say have done this with no problem and really i would like to keep this until the clocks decide different.

Parts replaced or renewed

Engine has had a full rebuild

Brakes New calliper and brake lines, Brake shoes, Brake switch, Brake light

Owners Handbook - extra bit

Not Changed
Frame - painted
Handlebars - de-rusted and polished
Wiring Harness - repaired and rebound
Rear Mudguard - de-rusted and polished
Electrical components in side of bike Rectifier etc
Clocks Speedo and Tacho - painted and cleaned up

is it still a 1977 bike with 37k mileage ?

I would like to say it is - what's your views?

Fairly typical restoration of a bike to ride, not a show bike. 👍

It is still a 1977 bike, I'm not obsessed with OE parts as long as pattern are good and look the same.  On a bike that is nearly 50 years old I wouldn't be very interested in the mileage displayed, we only have the things word for it after all. I also seem to be on my third set of clocks anyway. It is the sound and feel of the engine, and is it oil tight that matters.    I've had lots of work done on my engine and retained the proof of it.

Sounds similar to my 750F1 left a lot of parts including the clocks alone, for the clocks I just replaced the chrome bits and resprayed the black.
