Tyre wall black
(1/1)
exvalvesetdabbler:
What are folk using these days?
When I was on a budget I used to use boot polish which looked ok for a short while but some folk are saying it's not good for the tyre. Can't see it being any worse than all the chain lube that ends up on the back tyre?
Don't want anything very shiny, just black and clean.

Dave
McCabe-Thiele (Ted):
There are Aerosol type tyre wall applications that come out as a white foam, wash off, leaves the tyre wall looking like a new slightly Matt finish.

Hi Dave,
I use Autoglym tyre dressing, sprayed onto car tyres for shows - it's a milky liquid in a trigger spray bottle. I don't spray it on bike tyres directly, for fear of it going onto the tread but I spray it onto a cloth and wipe it around the sides of the tyres. Just leave after application, no rinsing or wiping off and it's supposed to be beneficial to the tyre compounds (but they would say that, wouldn't they?). Does go a long way though and the finish is akin to new rubber - not like those on a cheap used car lot!

That's the stuff Dave,
As I say, try not to get it on the tread, especially if you are a toe down merchant 🤡
