1978 CB550 F2 Rear Light Query UK
« on: May 31, 2026, 09:30:35 PM »
I need to replace the rear light, as the housing is bent out of shape, and the lens doesn't fit correctly.

I've been trying to find an original housing, which I can see is a Stanley HM-11RC. The lens I have is a Stanley HM-15RC, which I can reuse

Should the two be the same, i.e. match, or can they be different?

I'm a bit confused what I should get - any help appreciated.

Thanks

I've found that the HM-11RC is for older bikes, and the correct period part is the HM-15RC. Looks like I have a Frankenstein, correct lens, incorrect body.

I have located a reproduction part which will fit. Interesting that David Silvers is selling new, the HM-111RC for this model bike, which will fit, but is not the correct period.

The correct one for a UK version of the 550f2 is the smaller of the 2 fittings, has 2 screws attaching the lens. The K3 though got the much bigger one with 4 screws attaching the lens.

I seem to recall there was also a spacing difference between the mounting bolts so maybe you have the wrong rear light bracket as well.

I have the UK bracket (according to CMSL and parts lists). I think i have the incorrect light body, with the correct lens fitted to it. It's all good though, a replacement part is on its way - i was hoping to re-use the original lens, guess that will be for Ebay now!
