Cleaning tyre walls
« on: June 10, 2026, 07:13:47 PM »
I'm getting that ugly brown colour on my tyre walls again, it might be something to do with the extended life span of old peoples tyres, the compound K tyres on my RG500s never lasted long enough for this.
But is there a good solution, some cleaning agent that works best?

The 6 year old  back tyres on my Prius look like that.  I just bought some autoglym  tyre dressing on  recommendation of forum members.  It woked nicely on the bike but not tried on the car yet. Tyres might be replaced this week as there's a lot of cracking between the tread blocks and MOT due next week.

Regards
Dave

Thanks for that Dave. I wondered if this topic had been discussed before but I couldn't find anything searching.

The brown stuff is called " blooming" it happens more to rubber when you use a tire dressing with Silicone in it.
I suggest finding a tire dressing that is Silicone free.
