Ear Plugs

<< < (2/3) > >>

Oddjob:
Never worn them, doubt I will ever will tbh. I like to hear the engine noises. They are like music to me.

McCabe-Thiele (Ted):
Ah the sweet whine from a screaming engine, a combination of a good fitting helmet and not wearing my hearing aids, bliss

Eventually I work out it's not the gearbox making a noise but my visor not being fully closed.

Used to be by 3M

Yellow with blue cord

Each end having 3 soft rings and a centre core, soft, easily fitted,

Also use fleabay copies

Work out just over £1 a set,

Can still hear the phone, sat nav, etc,

First time I used them I had to watch the rev counter for gear change and tickover

Well worth wearing

That's really helpful and useful information John, thank you. What is your opinion of the mega expensive pairs that so many rave about?

Never used them, these seem to work, are comfortable for 6 hours plus ride out

Easy to clean,

I am well over 70,and don't need hearing aids

But it is my personal opinion

At those prices, nothing to lose

honda-san:
I've ridden close to 750,000 miles now over the last 50 years and mostly on un-faired bikes. For the last 30 years I have always worn earplugs. In spite of this I now have Tinnitus (ringing in the ears). All day, every day - no treatment or cure for it. I'm not saying that wearing earplugs was pointless rather that the risk of hearing damage should never be under-estimated.
I use both the disposable foam type plugs and the yellow with blue cord silicon re-useable type mentioned previously, and find these days that the increased noise if I forget to fit the earplugs is such that I have to immediately stop and fit them.

Athame57:
If I'm ever going to wear ear plugs it is to reduce noise from the neighbours I have here.  :o
