New from Gothenburg, Sweden
« on: October 10, 2026, 07:34:10 PM »
Hi all. Was looking for a winter project and found a 1975 CB500 Four close by. It is rough, been standing since 2001 in a farm shed but only 3 owners and 25000km:s. Almost complete but 4-1 system. Will probably take more than one winter but will probably do original restauration.

Welcome Tommi.  500 looks good, looks tidier than my daily ride  ;D

This picture was taken after a 170 mile trip to the Long Mynd in Shropshire last month.  Went back the same day.

Welcome to the forum Tommi. Do I spy a Mini in the background?

With a right hand petrol tank on the Mini, in the UK that would be the twin tank Cooper S version.

Might be for left hand drive they fitted right hand tank only.

Thanks all. The Mini is from beginning a 1965 Austin 850. I bought it 1973, 15 years old to drive on ice tracks, this was in Finland. During the 53 years i owned it lots has happened, 1293cc heavily tuned engine, MG Metro 4 pot ventilated brakes modified to fit 10" wheels, colour chance 3 times, Connolly interior and much more.

A belated welcome to this wonderful forum Tommi, I've not had a 500/4 but still have 350/4, 400/4 and more recently recommissioned a 550/4, bought from one of the forum members.  I got lots of help and parts from many of the forum members - hope you are as successful!
I'm also a Mini man - have owned 32 of them and still have a Clubman Estate which I built from a very lightly damaged, almost new shell and all of the parts from a crashed 1999 Cooper LE.

This was taken on our way to the IMM in Bavaria in the Neckar Valley back in 2010, all the way from Orkney!

My 400/4 also has a '666' registration but I'm not into devil worship!

Hi Tommy, and welcome from the other Orkney forum member. Wow! I’m impressed that you own a car that you had when you were 15! Worked it out that you must be same age as me. I think I destroyed everything I had when I was 15!😁

Yes nice i have kept the Mini so long, even took my license with it in 1976.
Seems to be a nice forum. Now reading through old 500/550 posts so i don´t make all the mistakes that have been done already, sure i will do some anyhow!
The parts availability seems to be quite good for the 500, some years ago i had a CB450 K3 Twin and it was so bad i sold it even if it was beautiful bike.
