New head gasket with corrosion Vesrah Set CB750K5
« on: October 21, 2026, 02:12:31 PM »
Following on from my previous post and very useful responses, thought I would share an update.

My friend purchased a Vesrah VG-157 engine gasket set from DS.

I took a look and saw multiple areas of corrosion to the metal combustion rings on head gasket.

My friend contacted DS and advised, also sent photos as they requested.

They responded by advising that their other sets were no better ::)

After speaking to me, I suggested escalating as I would not be happy using and was shocked by the poor response.

We wait to hear back, but in meantime wanted to check out alternative sources and recommendations.

I have sent message to Honda Classics to ask who makes their sets.

There seems to be a shortage of Vesrah sets at moment.

Honda Classics don't say who makes theirs and have not responded to message.

Wemoto have an Athena set at £84.99

I am not aware of issues with Athena?

I used Athena on my CX500 (water cooled) with no issues / leaks. I did go thru a triple heat cycle format though just to be sure everything was well torqued prior to giving it some beans.
