Thanks Dave, that's really helpful.

For me, usability is more important than the look (but think the ikon/konis look better than the Hagon's) just need to come to terms with/justify the cost.

It's about 1.5 times (assuming I've worked out the import/VAT costs).

I think the question is are they worth it?

Either will be better than the original, to my eyes the Hagon/Girling the spring is too long for the damper - just aesthetically, I'm sure they know how to build a shock - just dithering about can I justify the extra for a more traditional/stock looking thing.

Probably only been through it a few thousand times in my sad little brain.

Thank you to everyone for their help.

I agree with Bryan. Back in the 80's if you were rich or wanted your bike to handle you bought a pair of Koni's and gained instant kudos with your mates who still had pogo original shocks fitted.
Girlings (now Hagon) were always fitted to British bikes. I distinctly remember in the very late 70's and early 80's the Girlings on Triumphs were fitted upside down. At the time this was marketed as an improvement of the original design as a gas shock but it was reported a bit later that there had been a mistake made during the manufacturing process that required them to be fitted upside down to work properly, Girling didn't want to recall them and put them right!
I don't know if that's true or just an urban myth but it was a good story at the time.

That's great. Don't suppose you could put a link? Not trying to be needy, trues searching to no avail (not very au fait with socials...)

Thank you anyway. This group is really helpful to an idiot like me.
