Derby Plating Services, Abbey St - closed down
« on: October 27, 2026, 08:54:14 PM »
A local family run firm great Chrome Platers has closed down due to high running costs.

A shame they had a good reputation locally.

Sad. Surely these high running costs are about new environmental rules rather than things like energy prices?

It's both George.
My plater in Hayes, NW London stopped chrome plating about four years ago now as a result of the environmental policies and the spiraling cost of energy. Considering energy has probably increased by double during those four years I'm not surprised more platers are calling it a day.
