Oil filter cover bolt seized

<< < (4/4)

Tomb:
Beautiful repair Bill

It might be wise to give it another coat of paint after fitting it, tightening will chip the paint.

Its for that reason (like PatM) I welded a stainless nut over the chewed up remains of mine.

K2-K6:
That's a very nice repair job and a part well restored.

People often do these up so tight as if their life depended on it when all it needs is to only just compress the O-ring and no more, you can feel it when the filter housing just starts to touch the cases and stop there.

meerkat:
Thanks Tomb and K2-K6 for your kind comments.
The sump drain plug was also repaired the same way and both have now been re-fitted. The bike's been filled with fresh oil and the engine turned over without firing to avoid getting petrol down the dry bores.
Just waiting for a break in the weather to go for a run in a much easier frame of mind than this time last week.  ;D
Here's another picture of the bike.
