Isle of Man Classic TT (Updated with new photo's)

Am off to the Isle of Man in 30 minutes for the Classic TT/Manx GP.

Taking my old blue 750F2 instead of the restored bike. Silly I know, but cant stand the thought of it sitting outside the hotel in the rain for 9 days after all that work.
Plus I am not that bothered if the blue bike blows up on the Sulby straight, needs rebuilding anyway.

Will be doing the VMCC parade lap on closed roads Saturday afternoon. Will post a GoCam video of the big crash when I get back, along with pictures of any interesting bikes I see.

Is anybody else going?

Could do without the bike falling over with the luggage on, will need a crane to pick it up.

Good luck with that roy, have a great time, i am sure your f2 will be ok it looks in  good condition for an unrestored one,
the luggage looks like it needs more securing, do you have any sort of framework under the saddle bags?

Me and the wife had a weekend over there earlier this month had a fantastic time.
Brings back so many memories, we had a meal in the Creg ny baa and they were doing an offer seat all day on the veranda with lunch £40.
I was thinking of going back next year to see the southern 100.

Dead jealous, we used to go to the Island for the TT and Manx every year in the 70's, even went on honeymoon to the 78 TT, would like to do it again but it would probably be in a car these days as leaving the F1 out in the rain for a week would be a mite off putting, I will have to get a tat modern bike for that.

Done the VMCC parade lap this afternoon. Parade lap, I don't think so, the lead marshal took off at race speed. Was going to be careful and do my own safe speed but by the time I was at Bradden Bridge the red mist had descended. The poor F2 got thrashed within an inch of its life. And it never missed a beat. Unlike the Sealey Honda that crashed hard at Waterworks. 5 crashes in all, some parade lap it was mad. Absolutely brilliant.

Hi All.

Back from the Isle of Man, what a great 10 days.

The highlight of the trip was the VMCC parade lap on the first Saturday. Wasn't sure what sort of speed we were supposed to do as this was my first time. At the briefing we were told the intention was for the spectators to view the old bikes between races, and it was not a race and overtaking wasn't really allowed.

Well just have a look at the video on YouTube, I don't think the spectators got much of a look at the bikes.

I did this on my old F2 with the benefit of block tread Cheng Shinn tyres that have sod all grip and move around like crazy. Scary.

What the video doesn't show is the fierce wind on the front of the bike climbing up from Ramsey Hairpin to the Mountain Box. The bike wouldn't even rev in top gear as the video shows. Combination of high bars and no fairing nearly brought me to a standstill.

Five crashes in all, two of the bikes can be seen in the video leaning on the grass embankment whilst the Marshalls are cleaning up a huge oil spill. Bye Bye one Sealey F2. Also a lot of these riders are old hands at the TT course and know where they are going. A lot are also club racers on vintage race bikes.

This was my first go at the closed roads TT course. Its over 37 miles long and has a huge number of twists and turns. I had no idea where I was going, does the bend go left or right and by how much etc. I finished with quite a few bikes in front of me, but a huge number behind. So in all am fairly happy with the lap. Great fun though.
