HELLO I HAVE JUST ENTERED THE WORLD OF THE HONDA SOHC AND BOUGHT A 1978 750 F2. CAN ANYBODY HELP ME,CAN THE CAMCHAIN BE REPLACED WITH THE ENGINE IN THE FRAME. AND ARE THE RELACMENT CHAINS SPLIT LINK OR SOFT LINK.ALSO I HAVE NOTICED ON PICTURES THAT THE REAR LIGHT ON SOME,AS ON MINE ARE FITTED ONTO A REAR LIGHT BRACKET,AND SOME ARE FITTED DIRECTLY ONTO THE TAIL PIECE. I AM AFTER A CHAINGUARD AND A STANDARD EXHAUST.
MANY THANKS
DAVE.(ENGLAND)

Hi Dave,
To change the camchain you would have to remove the engine from the frame, also the original chain is endless so would require a full strip. Why do you want to change the cam chain ?
The rear light/number plate on the CB750F1 and F2 (I own one of each) are both fitted to a chrome rail which runs just below seat height and has a bracket on the rear, have never seen one fitted to a seat tail.
For most parts for your bike I would recommend David Silver Spares.
Finding a standard exhaust would be very difficult (and expensive) the same applies for a chainguard, you might find something on eBay though.
Welcme to the SOHC world.
Cheers
Dennis

Fitting a soft-link chain still means dropping the engine, as there is noy enought clearance to remove the camchain cover, my F2 has had one fitted by a PO, a friend of mine had it done to his CBR600 with no probs,
I think the best after market exhaust you can get is the Motad 4-1, they look right for the bike.
Motad can be found here
http://www.motad.co.uk/category.php?cat=Collector&manu=Honda
When I got my F2 it had had its seat mounted rear light removed and a fitted with the type fron the K seris.

Dave,
Nice looking bike. Where are you from in the UK?
Could this bike be an import? It looks like a US bike to me, but I am no expert! I just sold my F1 and miss it al;ready!!

HI JIM
THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY.
I AM FROM HORSHAM IN SUSSEX,AS FOR THE BIKE I ONLY GOT IT LAST WEEK SO HAVE NOT GOT THE LOG BOOK BACK YET, SO CANNOT TRACE ITS HISTORY, I ONCE OWNED A F1 BACK IN 1979 SO ITS NICE TO HAVE A SOHC AGAIN,THE PAINT WORK IS IN PERFECT CONDITION BUT I DONT THINK IT IS A STANDARD COULOR UNLESS IT COULD BE A EUROPEAN COULOR,WILL PROBABLY BE ON THE FORUM QUITE A LOT NOW. THE CHAINGUARD SEEMS VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND. REGARDS
DAVE.

Dave,
I think you may be right that does not look like a std colour, also I noticed the tank stripes are missing and the tank badge looks different to a 'normal' F2. Do you ever get to Box Hill or Newlands?

I am told that they are std for the F2, they looked so different to my F1 I thought it must be an import, but I was wrong! Also, the tank is correct for the F2; I was wrong again!

Hello all. I'm new to this forum and come to you from Canada. Dave, if you are still in the market for a chainguard, I have one here. It is functional with no significant damage, but will need rechroming to be show quality. The inside face is covered in surface rust. I understand chroming is fairing accessible in the UK. Contact me if you are interested. p.s. I buy/sell on Ebay as ujms (nothing for sale at the moment though. Cheers, Chris.
