Today is National Fish & Chips day.🦈 Will you be helping our fishermen and chippies by indulging? I remember when this was a cheap staple in Britain!
But was it's handiness as a Fish 'n' Rack the force that had manufactures put that ugly rack on the tank of older British bikes?

Does anyone have an opinion on the oil additive slick50? Back in the 1980s I used it in my RG500 and my 1988 Suzuki GS450 which gave 50,000 trouble free despatch riding.  It was however a bike from new and it had a full service record, so nothing to really compare it with even if I wanted to, except a 1982 CB250N Super Scream that fell to bits in less than a year of despatch, but without a good service record.  Your thoughts on this magical potion anyone?

Today I had my front brake calliper apart to file a bevel on the pads leading edges and renew the copper grease. Great, squeak stopped. I had ridden about fifty yards in the compound here to test my handiwork, and I got a front tyre puncture doing THAT!  Maybe I shouldn't ride on Fridays?

I'm wondering about the condition of my front forks, by pushing and braking I seem to detect a slight catchiness, a reluctance to rebound. Hopefully jus time to do the fork oil, it's been ages since I did that.  But a pre-emptive search for spare parts produces sources for the two o rings and the short ( more vulnerable?) springs in the bottom of the fork, but the main long springs are nowhere to be found on the two main sources, DSS and CMSL. Question is, are these things prone to wear or one of those parts that last forever?

Depending on legislation and/or demand, E5 may be gone in the not so far future. I've heard about additives but what of them, do they do enough?

I went to check my chain tension, that was fine but other sniffing around had me find play in my rear final drive sprocket. The four securing nuts are good and tight and the retaining circlip is in position, no play in the wheel either. Before I pull everything apart though, will this be down to the damper bushes being worn out?

A bit short sighted a topic I know ( * groan ) but does anyone here ride with contact lenses? I'm asking because it has become difficult to find current specs that are compatible  with a Bell open face helmet like I wear because thicker lenses mean thicker arms to bend into place (and break). My GF wears them but warns me they are easily blown out of place ( ) I would be wearing goggles at speed but does she have a point?

I'm toying with the idea of fitting a headlamp guard grill to my CB400F2. But is it really classic looking, or off-road, Mad Max even? Has anyone else fitted this item to a 1970s Honda SOHC? Your thoughts?

Is anyone else planning on going to it? I used to go to the Chelsea cruise each month as did many who rode along with it or just goofed at the retro cars (and odd bike) from the Chelsea bridge which was home to a huge bike gathering on weekend evenings, (alas died off seemingly designed out of existence by traffic restrictions. ) You can keep track by visiting or joining The Chelsea Cruise Facebook page also.
