I've got the Avon 110/90 R18 on the rear of my 400 and the handling is absolutely fine. 👍

CB350/400 / Re: Running in advice
« on: April 15, 2026, 12:47:37 PM »
I rebuilt my 400f with new pistons, rings, honed bores, new bearings, seals etc. so I ran it in carefully for the first 500 miles. It's now done several thousand miles and doesn't use any oil between oil changes.
When I bought my Street TripleR I followed Triumph's running in advice and it was still running beautifully,  no oil use after 12 years of use. A mate of mine bought a Street Triple just before me and he ragged it from the start. His used oil and showed blue oil smoke from the exhaust when revved.
Bedding in rings is important.

Welcome to the forum.  Most of us only work in English, I'm afraid.  Translated it for you.

Hello everyone, my name is Jose, although most people call me Pisa or by my last name, Panizo. I'm from León, Spain. I'm new to this forum; I just registered. Two months ago, I bought a 1974 Honda CB350 Four. Could someone tell me the part number for the red paint on the Honda CB350 Four? Greetings to all, and thanks.

CB350/400 / Re: Shitty front brake.
« on: April 11, 2026, 11:53:52 AM »
My 400f front brake is OK. It'll never be the same as a modern opposed piston, double disc brake. There is a good long thread on here about improving the front brake, worth a read.

Basically, overhaul the front caliper, make sure that the piston, seal and bore are all clean.
Clean the friction surfaces of the disc with fine emery cloth and wipe after with white spirit and dry. Reassemble with good brake pads such as EBC Organic or Brembo. Braided brake hoses expand less than old style rubber hoses so give more bite, IMO.
Adjust the brake pivot as per the manual. Test ride, find a quiet road and bed the new pads in.

Should be a better brake than you have now.

A tidy VFR400 at the local bike meet last night. Plus a few others.
I should have taken more photos.

Gareth,
my Scottish spies tell me those photos may have been taken last Wednesday night at the Balmullo Inn?

ATB

Got it in one.👍

CB750 / Re: CB750 four K0 speedometer reset
« on: April 10, 2026, 11:51:50 PM »
I have always disregarded the odo on any vehicle. If it runs well and I want it I buy it.
My aprilia has it's original Speedo but the milage is wrong as in my ownership it has snapped at least 3 Speedo cables and I'm always incredibly slow at changing them.

I've always thought an hour counter like on planet machinery would make more sense. Distance is irrelevant

A lot of light aircraft have an engine hour counter (difficult to measure mileage in the air!).
Even those can eventually fail though, so you would have the same replacement counter problem.

CB750 / Re: CB750 K6 fuel tap repair kit
« on: April 05, 2026, 01:21:41 PM »
Halo everyone.
I hade mine K6 fuel tap apart last week. The critical part in this is the small plastic cone with hole that can get scratched on its surface and leek. This must be a typical piece to be made by a decent good 3D-printer. Careful measurement and CAD drawing should give us access to spare parts for this one too. I am not at all knowledgeable in this technology but have seen amazing 3D prints.
Just a thought.
Anders

I'm sure that you're right. The plastic or nylon cone could be printed in the right, petrol-proof material, or cast/machined. A good project for someone with the skills and access to machinery.

Any autojumble should have some old imperial spanners up for grabs. One coming up in Forfar, regular ones in Bridge of Earn if you're near enough.

I wondered how you’d get into those base nuts, thought maybe a crows foot, whitworth, BA,  thread forms, I can see this will be a steep learning curve! Very handy advice thanks

Get an imperial thread gauge to check thread types. Absolutely essential.
