Cheaper to get used head if fins gone, all 500 and 550 are the same.
Yes if its dropped a valve there will be piston and possibly liner damage, piston sets available at about £35 each, bring it to Gloucester a nd i can bore it for you 3
SOHC Singles & Twins / Re: 1976 CB250 G5 Float height for 745B Carb« on: June 17, 2025, 08:54:05 PM »
The amount they hang down is of no matter as long as they shut off the fuel at the same level.
I can only assume that the tang to stop them hanging down too far is to make it easier to fit the float bowls, cant think of any other reason 4

Only oval if the brake pedal pulses under your foot.
The noise could be dust in the drum 5
CB500/550 / Re: 500 big bore« on: June 15, 2025, 03:26:38 PM »
Ken, that depend on the cases as 550 liners will not fit in some 500 but will in others, i am working on dropping a set of 550 liners into a 500 block to see.
I would happily do some blocks for you but it is wearher and work dependant as i have to set up outside! 6
CB500/550 / 500 big bore« on: June 15, 2025, 02:25:10 AM »
I have just finished boring out a set of 500 barrells to take 550 +0.25 pistons and if anybody is interested in buying these, with piston kits, before i bolt them into one of my engines please get in touch.
In the next few weeks i will also have barrells at 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1.0 mm oversize along with kits if anybody is interested. I have been busy using my boring bar and sorting out piston kits purchased over time.. There is a possibility of a set bored to a rare set of Yoshimura pistons at 59mm which is the maximum a 500 liner can go to. Keep it dirty side down Bryan 8

The insides fall apart due to aged nylon, the start button has 3 contacts and turns the headlight off before working the starter

Most shops wont take on old bike, most of it is easy enough to do yourself with a Honda manual
