Welcome back, the CB77 is the bike I could not afford as a student, I settled for the 250 cc version, a friend had a new CB77  305 Super Sport for his 21st Birthday.

Online they seem to call them a Honda 305 Super-Hawk, I only knew the as a Super Sport. My mates bike had the same sports  bars.

Fwiw I would treat the 305 as a keeper if I had your choices.

Interesting old Raleigh, my mate had a Cycle master that he used to commute to work.

He later upgrades to the Runabout model.

I too would be looking at an oily rag job.

My mate did an oily rag restoration on a 1960s Ariel Leader. He sold it at a big loss, he didn't keep it as it was too slow with poor brakes, he owned one in the 1970s. Nostalgic memories eh.

Hi Allan long time no speak, is that a Honda 305 Super Sport, quite rare I suspect?

I don't recognise the Combo make, leading link iirc was on my old Ariel Leader, much shorter front link. Is that a factory standard set up?

I rebuilt the engine just under 2 years ago so all the seals are pretty much new.

Ted
Is the oil relief valve in the oil pressure switch?

Iirc it's built into side of the  oil pump, I could be confused with the 500 oil pump.

This photo shows the bracket as seen from the right side of the frame, to the left of the lower steering shaft bearing.
IIRC the lug is only welded on the right side of the frame (consistent with your frame that shows the welded up lug point), the integrated bracket provides the second mounting hole to the right side.

The Chassis plate on my frame  is clearly not an original fitting btw.

Did you clean the oil relief valve & check it operation?
Unless it's a new switch it might be leaking at the terminal & oil seeping down, never needed PTFE tape on the threads.

In the 500 downloadable manual here F36 Page 140 shows the frame horn mounting.
My bare frame photo is a side shot so is of no help.

Theses photos might help, one shows the horn in place with the bracket, other shows the front mounting point on the right side of my frame. Zooming in is required. The parts manual might also show the frame mounting points - not checked that.

Thanks Ted

I've just gone for the Bulgarian one, considering what I've spent so far,  £60 for a spring doesn't seem to bad!

Many of us know that feeling!

I bought a góod used  one from two wheel spares, I had to buy the shaft as well, it wasn't too expensive.
Might be worth visiting their online shop.

My 500 handle bars came from Bertrum's Bits, they have some good products on eBay.
