Misc / Open / How do you do yours?

This is not a particular nice time of year when it is time to winterise these lovely machines. (Roll on new year, 🤭) Put the 750 and the 550K1 into hybernation yesterday. Still have the 550k3 and the pan to run if a nice day should come, although the 550k3 will end up winterised too as soon as the road salt appears. I have drained carbs and tank and swilled a couple of pints of diesel in each tank to help keep rust at bay. Covered them up and placed a small tubular heater under each cover. (probably OTT)
They are also in a fully insulated shed. I will probably see them around March 26 sometime. Haven’t done much riding this year but more than others so not complaining, been a beautiful summer so wasn’t the usual lack of descent weather to blame. Hope everyone keeps well over the winter and we are all able to enjoy another lovely summer and happy tinkering over the winter.

CB750 / Ignition failure?

When I rode the 750 home at the weekend I definitely didn’t have 4 cylinders, No4 header was cold. So yesterday had a look at the usual - leads, plug caps, plug, connections etc. Could not find anything, except when I run with No4 plug out and connected I get a weak spark then nothing! I am at the moment suspecting a failed coil. I have done a resistance check between 1 & 4 leads, result nothing!
Going to check today with another multi meter. Could a failed electronic ignition have resulted in a fried coil? These are old original coils that I gave the Ash’s refurb with new leads and caps. I will resume the investigation today hopefully.

Misc / Open / Surplus paint.

Hi all, seems a shame that this paint will eventually be dumped unless someone can use it. There is more than enough for a tank and side panels, I haven’t even used half of it. My own fault for ordering too much. It is Candy Jade Green. I don’t want anything for it, just happy to post on.

Misc / Open / T Cut

I have had reasonable results over the years with just fine wet and dry and buffing with T cut. But like a lot of products I think they have changed the formula. Anybody else here use this method and found the same? I just don’t think the T cut is as good. I can get a good shine but it’s taking twice as much work. Maybe I need a polisher/buffer?

Just fitting the front indicators to my 550 and noticed the bulbs were Stanley bulbs. Then got me wondering if they could have been the original bulbs? Its a 1974 model.

Just wondered what the consensus off opinion on treating block connectors before connecting them up.  Better to leave clean and dry or maybe a squirt of WD? How do you treat yours?

This is mildly amusing. Without the appropriate part number and without perspective I purchased this off eBay a wee while back. The one at the top of the pic was intended to be replaced by the one at the bottom of pic. 😂 Anybody want it?
