Hi all. Just bought an F2 sohc that's been standing for about 4 years. Wasn't running when I bought it so did not get the chance of a test ride (price was very good so took a chance). Been through it all and it now runs very well, in fact will pull to the redline without missing a beat. Now the problem I could use advice on: the big one is when riding it there is a noticeable whine from the gearbox. Never having owned one before could somebody let me know if this is normal or maybe a gearbox bearing or something. It goes into all the gears really well, up and down the box and finds neutral okay. The other noise is the clutch at tickover. It is very rattly although it is adjusted correctly, and work well. These noises are unnerving and I wonder should I be using the bike as it may be causing damage. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

Thanks guys. Compression is okay, and got a good spark. Have completely stripped the carbs, cleaned as best I can with copper wire/carb cleaner/compressed air. Have now sent them off to be ultrasonic cleaned. All I have to do now is figure out how the hell to put them back together again. Watch this space for a call for help sometime soon. Thanks again.

Can anybody give me some pointers about cylinder 2 not running (CB750F2), have run out of ideas. Bike has been stood for a number of years. Have cleaned the carbs (although they were clean already), have replaced the float valves and set float heights (not sure if I have done this right as the manual does not even mention it), replaced the accelerator pump diaphragm, fitted new plugs etc. Engine fires up on the choke but cylinder 2 stays cold, does not cut in on higher throttle either. No.2 spark plug does not appear to be wet with petrol. Any ideas where I go from here, its bumming me out carbs have been off over and over. HELP!

Hi Mick. Yes I do go to Knott End but only rarely. The problem is I only live about 3 miles away so hardly worth getting the bike out, not really a run out. Also working away during the week quite a lot. We usually go up to Devils Bridge, which isn't much of a run out for you. I am at present restoring a CB750F2, I also have a rideable F2 (up for sale soon), and a modern CB1300. May see you at Knott End, let me know if your going you never know I may actually be local. Cheers.

Thanks for the replies guys. Unfortunately David Silver did not have them, says they cant get hold of them at the moment. And Sirius is a bit too expensive for my budget at 250 dollars for 4 kits. Have found a guy in Japan that says he has kits for the 1977 K7 model that are okay for the F2. Not sure about jet sizes though. Any advice you can give me would be a great help. Many thanks.

Hi. New to the forum so hello to everybody. Not used the forum before so forgive me if I post wrongly. Will soon get the hang of it. Quick question, am trying to get 4 carb repair kits for the CB750F2 (1978) as you probably know they are listed as unavailable. I can get a kit for the 750K that looks the same, but there are two different ones, the 77 & 78. will either of these kits do the job. Many thanks.
