My cousin Rob had a CB72 and at the time it was my dream bike, at the time I had an AJS 250 (Saphire Sports?)
Sadly I never owned one, I stuck with Brit bikes until I got a Yamaha 80 which completely changed my mind about Brit v Jap bikes.

I'm with Bryan, when I rebuilt mine, I took lots of photos before and during dismantling, store everything in seperate sections or boxes with labels.
Also take photos in of the various stages as you are rebuilding, when in doubt post questions here.
I build scale models and treated the bike the same way, I treated each section of the bike like a model.

Cheers

Dennis.

CB750 / Re: Fixing cracked side panels

I had no problem painting my LPM panels, I used Halfords rattle cans for mine, undercoated with Halfords plastic primer, 2 coats of Ford Graphite Grey, one coat of clear. The Ford colour matched the original Honda colour.

While I was at it I did some spares just in case.

On my 750F1 I used a fibre Glass repair kit in the inside of the panel and on the outside I used CA to fill the crack and sanded it smooth.
The trick with the latter is not to leave the CA too long as it gets really hard, use an accelerator and leave it for about 20 minutes before sanding.

Try driving an artic arround cyclists, no matter what stupid stuff they do its your fault!!!

That reminds me of when we lived in Thailand, motorbikes were the poor peoples transport so no matter what the situation you were always in the wrong if you hit one when driving.
You could be sitting at traffic lights surounded by bikes, in front and on the left and right, the ones on the left could turn right in front of you and the ones on the left could could turn right.Note the Thais like us drive on the left.
We watched a video in a bar one night and a clip came on showing a motorbike sneak through a railway level crossing and get hit by a train, immediately the Thais chorused that it was the train drivers fault.
We had two incidents were bikers were hit by one our work colleagues, both were whisked out of the country the same night by our company.
If you hit a bike no matter what the circumstances were you were liable for repairs to the bike, the riders loss of earnings and their medical treatment and families loss.
The Thai lawyers used to go all out on expats caught out like this.

Way too clever and distracting for me, I am positive that we only use about 5% of the gadgets that our car is equiped with, a bit like our iphones, way too clever for us.

CB750 / Re: Honda CB750F1 Main stand removal.
« on: March 04, 2026, 05:07:15 PM »
The stand on my K1 had seized on the shaft and wore away  the clamps on the frame, I had some blocks made and fitted them to te frame as the clamps were too far gone.
You could try and insert pennies (or similar) into the spring coils when the bike is on the stand and the spring is open and then remove the stand.

Project Board / Re: Simoniz VHT Paint
« on: February 25, 2026, 09:46:43 AM »
Just beware I used usautomotive VHT paint on my barrels and head, but got it wrong, used 2 hours at 200oc instead of 1 hour and it came out a lovely metallic gold colour. Repeated at the correct time and it was perfect.
