The bad news is they are available from Honda and DSS but are about £20!

I watched it and also thought it would make more. Saw a Sandcast that I think was only bid up to $15/$16k earlier that did not sell.

CB350/400 / Re: Front brake lever« on: January 17, 2026, 07:50:47 PM »
To bleed the brakes I always remove the top of the reservoir and rubber diaphragm and just pull the lever back quite small amounts a few times in fairly quick succession. BUT you have to be be gentle to ensure the fluid does not shoot out. The bubbles will appear. Turn the handle bars full lock the other way and keep repeating. I didn't get any success with just pulling the lever right back. But did have one that still had what I thought was too much movement and fitted another spare M/C to improve it.

Been using the Kawasaki chain for 9 years, but only about 6000 miles and all good. Recently built an engine using the best parts of two and I readily moved it on to that engine. It is used in much more powerful bikes right up to the late 90s, but they may have had a tensioner.

CB350/400 / Re: Starter button no go.« on: January 04, 2026, 07:00:51 PM »
If this is now only starting when the clutch is pulled in I think there is a fault in the starter safety circuit. It is supposed to start if either the clutch is pulled in OR if it is in neutral. If the neutral light is working this means the neutral switch connection is probably good. There is a diode under the L side panel that could be U/s or a poor connection. Check LG/R wire....when it warms up a bit....maybe April.

Seems unobtainable even looking fpr barbs, adapters, what have you.
You could try buying a bigger fitting and a die. But a pain. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/157439372682 7

Jezza, I got mine from my BIL that he bought for his Z650. Can't find any listed anywhere exactly like it but found these on the bay that may do if you can get them sealed with an O ring.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353959718217 No just looked again the only do M6 x 1.0 so no go. Keep looking. 8

The original 750/500 collar is available from DSS for a pricey £109 or from CMS a bit cheaper, but then extra for shipping if you want to go that way. Have you dismantled it and checked the parts? But as Bryan pointed out the collar is often worn.

If they are Busso I think there has been some reports on the US site of taking a bit off the downpipes on sets that came direct from Busso. I think James had a set.

Not familiar with the 400. Had to look it up, comes up as neutral switch. Is it spring loaded? They appear quite rare.

I've used Avon 100/90 x 19 and 110/90 x 18 on my main 500 for 5 years. Seem about right. Any smaller metric sizes are too small.

I use a screw with clear tube attached to check fuel height that was sold for a z650, so their thread is the same. And probably others.

My CB550 came with a mix of float needles, a couple are rubber tipped (probably not viton but they have caused no issues) so I am sure they are available.

CB350/400 / Re: 400 four main jet o ring« on: December 08, 2025, 07:29:09 PM »
Just reading this whole thread. The Fowlers listing is in 1/10s of a mm! And is 4.9 x 2.5m so still far too big:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/1815886647 I have found that nitrile O rings on the main jets actually just expand a bit with E5 and seal better. Have seen no deterioration apart from that over the years. Just to add to the confusion I thought the Honda size was 3.5 X 1.2mm but never found them listed as a separate part for the 500 as they came with the main jet: https://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/CB550K0-1974-USA/part_5119 But I have used 3.5 x 1.2mm, 4.0 x 1.2mm (which I think HM recommended some time ago) I use E5 80% of the time and have have thrown E10 is sometimes when topping up and found it OK. If storing for a period only E5. But don't break up the happy home. I find it's always best to put your argument once and disagree, but don't prolong it and hijack the thread....which I have done. |
